Accessibility Statement for Exploring perspectives on young children's lives and learning (E109)
Mode of study
All module content is provided in printed books, with the exception of the learning journal and weekly activities, which are online. Online activities are composed of pages of text with images; text boxes; audio and video clips of 3–5 minutes long (all with subtitles); and interactive media. Online materials also include links to external resources.
Tuition strategy
This module includes learning events which are offered through online tutorials. Although not compulsory, attendance at tutorials will help you consolidate your learning. These will also be recorded and can be accessed at your convenience. If you have any concerns, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can discuss options with you.
Working with others
You will be required to work with other students. This includes looking at, and commenting on, others’ work; reflecting on others’ comments on your work; and/or working together with fellow learners on tutorial tasks. Please contact us to find out more if you would like support with this aspect of your learning.
Practical work
This module includes some optional online practical collaborative group work. The module extends your knowledge of an online OpenStudio with a ‘Show and Tell’ activity. In your tutor group you will discuss the photo that you uploaded to OpenStudio – of an early years environment that supports children’s learning – and the photos uploaded by fellow students. Advice on accessing OpenStudio has been prepared to enable students with visual impairments or limited manual dexterity to successfully study the module.
Diagrams and other visual content
The study materials contain some diagrams and photographs. Figure descriptions are provided for all figures. If you have any concerns about this aspect of the module, please contact us for further advice.
Finding information
You may be required to search for, and make use of, third鈥憄arty material online. Materials can be provided to enable you to meet the learning outcomes of the module. Please contact us if you have any concerns about this aspect of your learning.
Assessment
This module has five Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs) which must be submitted online via the OU electronic TMA system. If you are concerned about any aspects of assessments, please contact us for advice on alternative assessments and support.
Feedback
You will receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs). This will help you to reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment. Please contact your tutor to discuss any concerns you have about this aspect of your learning.
Schedule
All University modules are structured according to a set timetable and you will need time鈥憁anagement skills to keep your studies on track. You will be supported in developing these skills. If you are concerned about the time management required at undergraduate level, please contact us before you register on the module to find out what we can do to support you.
