Mode of study

Some of this module’s study materials are online. These consist of text pages with images, video clips (1–30 minutes, all with transcripts or subtitles), diagrams, interactive media, animations, and self-assessed quizzes. Online materials also provide links to external resources, forums and tutorial rooms. A printed course book is available, and you may download the online materials from the module website.

This module provides a range of learning events and online tutorials. Although not compulsory, tutorials will help you consolidate your learning.

You’ll search for and use third-party online material, and we assess this. We can provide alternatives for required/assessed research material to enable you to meet the module’s learning.

Assessment

This module has 3 tutor-marked assignments (TMAs) and an end-of-module assessment (EMA) that you submit via the online TMA/EMA service. Assignments gradually increase throughout the course in terms of their weighting, word count, skills expected and depth and breadth of concepts assessed. Assignment formats include essays, reports and research questions drawing on a blend of sources, including module material, externally sourced research, photos, images, videos, and self-reflection. The questions have been designed in collaboration with previous students to be as clear and accessible as possible. There is specific guidance offered around ‘What are we looking for in this piece of assessment?’, ‘How do I know what counts as good?’, ‘What is this question asking me to do?’ and ‘I still don’t understand the question, what do I do?’.

Feedback

You’ll receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted tutor-marked assignments (TMAs). Feedback will help you reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.
